Here’s your chance to learn about everything from fish to fireflies, bats to butterflies. Join teams of scientists and skilled naturalists during the 24-hour expedition in Forest Park. Expeditions leave every hour from the base camp. Families with nature lovers, budding scientists and experienced naturalists of all ages are invited.

All walks and expedition teams will meet at the base tent located behind the Dennis & Judith Jones Education and Visitor Center (Forest Park Forever Building).

Research emphasis includes systematics and evolution of Epilobium in North America. Peter has inventoried plants from St. Louis to Pakistan. Join this team as we add the Forest Park plant species to the BioBlitz database. What is the “Flora of China?” Ask Peter who will also share a few stories from past expeditions! |

Amanda has two bachelor degrees (Biology & Chemistry) and has volunteered for the Smithsonian Orkin Insect Zoo and the National Zoo.
Which butterflies migrate and why? Some are pests and some pollinators. A butterfly is a mainly day-flying insect of the order Lepidoptera, the butterflies and moths. Amanda will lead this team as you meander thru Forest Park in search of our local species! How many species will we find today to add to the BioBlitz Database?" |

Matthew’s life work includes the conservation of endangered plants in the Midwest by collecting and preserving seeds and restoring rare plants into the wild. Seed-banking is part of his work as Garden liaison to the Center for Plant Conservation, an independent national network of 34 botanical institutions dedicated to preserving threatened plants. Join Matthew to identify ferns, trees and most anything green and growing in Forest Park. What is Fire Ecology – find out! |

Macro invertebrate & Water Testing Celebrate World Water Day!

CH2M HILL Geologists, Chemists and Engineers from CH2M HILL
Join the engineers who worked on the design of the Forest Park Waterways! Water quality testing will be in conjunction with World Water Monitoring Day where results will be added to the World Water Monitoring Day Database. Additionally, team members will perform the Macro invertebrate study. |

Join Karen at the base tent to discover the mysteries of small & medium sized mammals in Forest Park. Listen to radio telemetry signals! Then assist in setting the mammal “Have a Heart ®” live traps for the night. Will discuss Masters Research work in the park. Animals found in the census will be added to Masters Research Project and BioBlitz database. Come back early tomorrow morning for the findings. |
