James V. Leonard,
PE, is Associate
Technical Fellow
at the Boeing
Military Aircraft
and Missile
Systems Company.
He is responsible
for the integration
of Boeing missiles
onto United
States and international
aircraft. He
and his team
performed the
integration
of the Standoff
Land Attack
Missile (SLAM)
onto the US
Navy P-3C Orion
Patrol Plane,
including the
Real Time Mission
Planning System.
This equipment
was used successfully
during the Kosovo
Crisis. Leonard
and his team
have been granted
two United States
patents. In
1997 Leonard
received an
Honorary Professional
Degree in Computer
Science from
the University
of Missouri
at Rolla (UMR).
He is very active
in the Institute
of Electrical
and Electronics
Engineers (IEEE)
at the global,
national, regional
and local levels.
He is currently
on the board
of directors
of IEEE-USA.
And he helped
form the IEEE
Aerospace and
Electronics
Systems Society
(AESS) Student
Chapter at UMR.
He is the author
of over 24 technical
articles, has
edited four
books, and is
a registered
Professional
Engineer in
both Missouri
and Ohio.
